Without further ado, here’s our pick of events for July 2016 (the list is by no means exhaustive, the full list on British Cycling’s website can be found here).

2/3 July 2016

Oakley Village Team Series Race – E123 – Borstall circuit, Buckinghamshire – 53 miles – £20 – 11:15am start

Mossley CRT Memorial Races – the Kirsty Saunders Memorial Trophy – E1234 – Tameside – 1 hour – £12 – 2:45pm – I don’t usually include circuit races but as this event is in memory of a young cyclist who passed away, I am doing. All proceeds to charity.

Fete du Velo Loads of racing, including an E123 women’s race and a W3/W4 race. Details on the link.

Albarosa Wheldrake Road Race – W2/W3/W4 – Wheldrake circuit, York – 35 miles – £18 – 11am – flat course, the organiser says it will be a good circuit for a breakaway or a bunch sprint.

9/10 July 2016

Duncan Murray Wines Team Series Race – E1234 – Naseby – 50 miles – £18 – 10:10am – will be interesting to see who enters this as it is the same weekend as Ryedale National Series.

Miltonduff Women’s Road Race – E1234 – Elgin, Moray – 39 miles – £15 – 10am

17 July 2016

Women’s Cicle Classic – E123 – Melton Mowbray – 65 miles – £30 – 12pm – using the same roads as the men’s event in April, this event was unfortunately cancelled last year but it looks to be a good race. To get an idea as to what to expect, Google the International Cicle Classic.

23/24 July 2016

OVB Junior Women’s Road Race – 1234 – Plungar, Nottinghamshire – 52 miles – £20 – 12pm – arguably the most important race of July’s calendar, this is the second junior women’s road race. The field is limited to 50, and there’s just over 50% of the spaces left, it’s at the end of the school year so please support it if you are a junior rider.

Anglesey Road Race – E1234 – Anglesey, North Wales – 50 miles – £25 – 1:30pm – this course will be challenging and will make for a great race. The organiser needs 20 entrants to have signed up by 10 July 2016 in order for it to go ahead.

30/31 July 2016

Bickerstaffe Road Race – W2/W3/W4 – Bickerstaffe, Merseyside – 46 miles – £20 – 12pm – a great circuit, easily accessible from the motorway network. Always gets booked up, so make sure you get your entry in early!

Hopton Women’s Road Race – W2/W3/W4 – North Lopham, Norfolk – 42 miles – £22 – 2pm – don’t worry about the statement on the link that says entry preference to ERRL riders, get entering!
