It’s now time for us to look at April’s events. All of the races currently listed on British Cycling can be found here but here is our pick:

1 & 2 April

Capernwray Road Race – E1234 – 47 miles – 10.02am – £20 – Lancaster. This is the same day as the Twickenham CC Team Series race (entry is closed for that) and offers some hillier terrain and band 3 points (1st 15 finishers get points). Racing Chance are sponsoring the junior women’s prize (and we’re doing neutral service too, I think).

8 & 9 April

Maxxis 4 Racing Team Road Race – Pimbo – 12:00pm – 40 miles – W2/W3/W4 – £20 I think we’re sponsoring the junior women’s prize on this too. A great event if you’re new to road racing. This is on the Saturday!

Cinelli Women’s Road Race – Leighton Buzzard – 8:30am – 50 miles – W2/W3/W4 – £18. A popular event last year, it’s already filling up fast, so if you want to enter, don’t delay!

SERRL Newchapel Road Race – Surrey – 10am – 35 miles – W3/W4 – £20. A rare opportunity for women who are third or fourth category – your own race! If you’re down South or will travel, this event is definitely worth supporting!

Easter Weekend (14/15/16/17 April)

Is looking somewhat bare except for:

Spridlington’s Spring Women’s Road Race – Lincoln – E1234 – 1:45pm – 48 miles – £15. The only road race of the weekend for women. A bargain at £15.

22 & 23 April

Rob Willmott Road Race – Gloucestershire – W2/W3/W4 – 2pm – 35 miles – £25. The afternoon start allows for travelling time.

Watford Velo Sport Spring Road Race – Buckinghamshire – E1234 – 1pm – 48 miles – £21. A band 3 race, again with an afternoon start to allow for travelling time.

29 & 30 April

3 Days of Bedford – part of the Team Series – always well-attended.

Duff Morgan/Iceni Velo RR – Norwich – E1234 – 2:30pm – 47 miles – £20. Part of the Women’s Eastern Racing League, preference given to WERL members. 50 rider field.

SERRL – South Nutfield RR – Surrey -W3/W4 – 10am – 33 miles – £20. The second SERRL road race of the month for third and fourth category riders. Please support this if you can!

This is not an extensive list (see the link at the top for that) but they are our pick of events.

Until next time, keep riding!
