Prior to Christmas 2016, we were deciding whether or not we should enter a team into the team pursuit at the Track Nationals. The juniors were really keen to have a go, but as we only had three juniors (at the time) who were regular track riders, we enlisted the help of Charlotte Alston (a talented Under-23 rider who had ridden for Team 22 in 2016 and would be riding for us in 2017) and Karen Helsby (who decided to take up track racing in 2016 when she turned 50).
We had limited track time, especially the team together (something to do with Charli going on a holiday!) and the colds and viruses that were doing the rounds in December 2016 and January 2017 didn’t help us either, but regardless, on Saturday 28 January 2017, we turned up to the British Cycling National Track Championships at Manchester Velodrome with a full complement of riders.
The team exceeded all of our expectations, setting two new PBs and looking really professional at the same time. The success though lay in the fact that everyone (including coaches, volunteers and parents as well as the riders) all worked together to help the riders reach their potential. We were so pleased as it was a great advert for both our brand and our beliefs. A massive thank you to every single person who was a part of helping us get there.
Lorna Side, Corinne’s mum, has put the following video together of the day and rather than me write about it, have a watch and be inspired:
